MacroBio Summer-Symposium 2019

A full day of scientific exchange was waiting for the participants of our MacroBio Summer-Symposium at the Institute of Biomaterial Science in Teltow on the 10.09.2019. We were delighted to welcome our international guest speakers Dr. Amanda Barnard (Data61, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation) and Prof. Jerry Qi (George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology), who presented their recent research on the topic “Transformation of material research by digital technologies”. Both speakers spent some time with the doctoral researchers from the MacroBio Graduate School to talk about career planning, academic networking and digitalisation.

PhD Retreat 2019

From 13. to 15. August 2019 the annual PhD Retreat took place at the Sports- and Education Centre in Lindow. During this three-day excursion, the researcher had the opportunity to participate in scientific discussion and to promote their PhD projects, as well as to join a wide range of team building activities (e. g. team games, beach volleyball and climbing).

The Helmholtz Graduate School for Macromolecular Bioscience was honoured to welcome Prof. María José Alonso to present the fourth edition of the New Year´s Lecture. Prof. Alonso has been professor for pharmacy and pharmaceutical technology at the University of Santiago de Compostela since 1998. She is an active member of several acclaimed international organisations: the ‘American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering’ and ‘US National Academy of Medicine’, as well as recently being elected the president of the ‘Controlled Release Society’. Besides scientific topics, Prof. Alonso discussed entrepreneurship, career planning, and academic networking with PhD students from the Graduate School MacroBio.
